Alexander Zverev v Taylor Fritz Predictions & Preview

In what will be the third match between Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz, these two will go head to head in the first round at the Swiss Indoors on Tuesday. Zverev leads 2-0, but not before Fritz had taken him to five sets at the 2018 Wimbledon in the second round.

The world number six Zverev looked like he had an ordinary start to the season but the 2018 Swiss Indoor semifinalist has come around well over the last few weeks. There were back to back semifinals in the leadup to this tournament, including a final at the Shanghai Masters where he went down to Daniil Medvedev, these two results, in a way wiping out the fourth round loss at the US Open and early defeats in Cincinnati and Montreal.

Fritz was a part of the Laver Cup recently but since then has lost four of his five matches played. He had had an Eastbourne title win but his form has dipped dramatically post since making it to back to back finals at Atlanta and Los Cabos. Can he turn it around against Zverev?

Tip: Over 22 games in the match: 10/11 with Unibet

Stefanos Tsitsipas v Albert Ramos-Vinalos Predictions & Preview

World number seven Stefanos Tsitsipas had a better start to the season than Alexander Zverev but has fallen slightly behind in recent times. A quarterfinalist here last year, the 21-year-old did seem to turn things around after making it to the final at the China Open where he went down to Dominic Thiem and then a semifinal at Shanghai Masters where Medvedev went past him.

Where Tsitsipas will take a lot of confidence is his comeback-from-behind win over the world number one, Novak Djokovic, at Shanghai. And he would like to make it 2-0 against Albert Ramos-Vinolas after having won their only previous match last year on clay at Barcelona.

31-year-old Ramos Vinolas will be hoping to compete against Tsitsipas as he had at Zhuhai where he recently made the semifinals. A first round loss at Beijing and a second round defeat at Shanghai to Federer might not have added to his happiness but at least a win over Marin Cilic in that latter tournament should help.

You would still expect Tsitsipas to win this in straights.

Fabio Fognini v Alexei Popyrin Predictions & Preview

This will be the first time that Fabio Fognini and Alexei Popyrin will be facing off and it could well turn out to be an exciting contest. A lot was expected out of Fognini the time he won the Monte-Carlo Masters earlier this year but the rest of his season has been underwhelming, to say the least.

And it looked to have culminated into a first round defeat at the hands of Janko Tipsarevic in the first round at Stockholm last week. A quarterfinal at Shanghai looked to be a fair result – especially given he went down to Medvedev – but some of the other performances before that would have left his fans wanting more.

Popyrin, by the virtue of being ranked 88th in the world, might not be the toughest first round opponent for Fognini, but he has these fighting qualities about him that make him a gritty competitor. So while a Fognini win might not be a very difficult to predict, Popyrin could take him to a third.

Tip: Fognini to win in three sets: 7/2 with Unibet

Roberto Bautista Agut v Marius Copil Predictions & Preview

This is the third meeting between Roberto Bautista Agut and Marius Copil. Agut has won both meetings thus far, on the clay courts of Munich and Madrid.

It has been a strong year for Spanish veteran Agut, where he broke into the top ten of the ATP rankings for the first time, was a Wimbledon semi-finalist, won the ATP 250 in Doha and defeated world number Novak Djokovic twice already. He was in the running for the ATP Tour Finals in London, and continues to be in the hunt, despite a dip in form since the US Open. While at one point of time, it looked certain that Agut would make the trip to London, he now has a bit of an outside shot with disappointing early losses of late.

After a good 2018, where he was runner up in Sofia and here at Basel, Romanian Marius Copil has not had quite the same season, with poor form and early losses. However, he has received the last wild card here at Basel, and it remains to be seen whether he can emulate his performance from last season, where he made the finals from being a qualifier.

Expect a competitive match on our hands, and if Agut is healthy and gets his touch early on, he should win this in two tight sets.

Tip: Bautista Agut to win in straight sets: 11/10 with Unibet
