Stefanos Tsitsipas v Ricardas Berankis Head to Head
The pair have met once before on tour. The Lithuanian won on the indoor courts at Metz in 2018.
Tsitsipas Having an Impressive End to the Season
The 21-year-old Greek is having an excellent end to the season. His impressive run in the Asian hard court swing secured his ATP World Tour qualifications. He reached the final in Beijing, losing to Austria’s Dominic Thiem. At Shanghai Masters, he reached the semi-finals before losing to the eventual champion Daniil Medvedev.
He has crossed 50 tour victories this year, his third consecutive year of achieving this feat. He has also won two titles this season at Estoril and Marseille. His highlight performance was at the start of the year at the Australian Open, where he reached the semi-finals.
The Greek is third seed at the tournament and would be looking to match his best showing at this event with a victory in the second round. Last year he reached the quarter-finals here in Basel.

Berankis Looking to Step up after Challenger Success
Berankis has been one of the most successful players on the Challenger level this year. He has already won four titles this season at the secondary tier. He also reached the quarter-finals at the Dubai Open. The Lithuanian broke back into the top 100 in the rankings once again and has stayed there since then.
He has been focusing more on the ATP level tournaments since the US Open but has had limited success. He couldn’t make it past the second round at Saint Petersburg, Beijing, and Shanghai. This week though, he has come through qualifying rounds as well as an impressive straight-sets victory in the first round.
With his victory in the first round, he has also matched his best performance at the event. He reached the last round of 16 in Basel in 2016, as well.
Stefanos Tsitsipas v Ricardas Berankis Predictions & Tips
Tsitsipas goes into the match in having won eight out of the last ten matches, whereas Berankis, at the same time, has a record of 5-5. The aggressive baseline game that the Greek has suited the indoor courts at Basel, whereas Berankis doesn’t quite have the game to make it difficult for his much more fancied opponent. I can not see Tsitsipas facing much trouble against the Lithuanian.
Tip: Tsitsipas to win in straight sets: 8/11 with 888Sport
