Sofia Kenin v Karolina Muchova Head to Head

This will be the first time that the world number 12 Kenin and the 26th-ranked Muchova will be facing off in a match at the WTA level.

Kenin Looking Strong for Semifinal Berth

At her career-best 12th ranking, Kenin has had a year to remember. It started with her maiden title win in Hobart early in the year and she followed it up with two more to round off a sparkling season before back to back third round exits at Wuhan and the China Open ended her hopes of making to the WTA Finals.

However, a WTA Elite appearance would have been bit of a balm for that and the way she began her campaign in this competition offers her a chance to finish the year on a high. Seeded second in this competition, Kenin had expressed hope she would be able to continue with her form in China and that seemed to be exactly how she started.

Playing against Alison Riske, Kenin was a 6-4, 6-4 winner in her opening match and a victory in this one will seal the deal for her and win her a semifinal berth.

Muchova Aiming to Upset the Apple-Cart

Muchova’s story this season has been one of resolute and what can be done if one puts one’s mind to it. She was ranked 141st in the world at one time but will end the season almost in the top 25.

She has a title to her name, which came about a month ago at the Seoul Open and she followed that up with a semifinal appearance at the Moscow Open. And it’s not been about hard-court displays alone.

Muchova was a surprise quarterfinalist at Wimbledon on grass, losing to Elina Svitolina in the end, and made it to the final of the Prague Open on clay. An all-round player we will hear a lot about next year and one who showed fighting qualities in getting past Alison Riske in her first match here.

She dropped the first set before wrapping up the match in three.

Kenin v Muchova Predictions & Tips

Kenin starts off a heavy favourite with the best offer of 14/19 at this time for her win but it’s tough to see this not go the distance. A three-setter or at least a very hard-fought two-set match expected out of this, with Kenin to edge out Muchova in the end.

Tip: Over 22 games in the match: 23/20 at 888Sport
