David Goffin v Grigor Dimitrov Head to Head

The pair have played each other 12 times in their career. And the record is heavily in favor of the Bulgarian. Their first meeting was back in 2010 on the Futures circuit and the last being Monte Carlo 2018. Dimitrov has won on 11 occasions with the Belgian’s solitary victory coming in Rotterdam in 2017.

Crucial Week for Goffin in Race to London

There are six players within 400 rankings points of each other fighting it out to qualify for ATP World Tour Finals. Goffin is one of them and is currently 11th in the race. He has had a chance to pull away from the pack twice this month. First, in Tokyo, where he lost in the semifinals to Novak Djokovic and then at Shanghai Masters, where he lost in the third round to Roger Federer.

Overall it has been another solid campaign for the 28-year-old Belgian. He has reached three semi-finals and two finals without winning a single title. His best run came during the late hard court season, where he reached the finals at Cincinnati before losing to Daniil Medvedev, he followed it up with a fourth-round run at the US Open.

This will be Goffin’s last big chance to secure points in the race to London. He is not defending any points this week, and a strong run this week will go a long way into him qualifying for the World Tour Finals.

Dimitrov Searching for Rhythm

After four titles and close to 50 victories on tour in 2017, Dimitrov has not been very consistent in the last two years. He had an impressive start to 2018, where he reached the Australian Open quarter-finals and a final at Rotterdam a month later. But the Bulgarian has only reached two semifinals in the last 40 tournaments he has played in.

This lack of success on the business end of the tournaments has seen his rankings drop from being in the top 10 a year ago to as low as 78 just a couple of months ago.

He looked best to his best during his spectacular semi-final run at the US Open a couple of months ago. He took out Roger Federer in the quarter-finals before going down to Daniil Medvedev in the semis. Since then, he has not been able to sustain the level of performance he showed at the flushing meadows. He has suffered early-round exits in four tournaments since then.

This is his fourth appearance in Paris. He will be looking to better his three consecutive round of 16 exits at this event. He came through a hard-fought three sets victory in the first round.

David Goffin v Grigor Dimitrov Predictions & Tips

Goffin has been solid this season without winning any titles. Dimitrov, on the other hand, had a tremendous US Open run but has little to show apart from it. The pair’s head to head record is hugely in favor of the Bulgarian. But with qualification to London on the line and better form behind him, Goffin should be strong enough to see off Dimitrov.

Tip: Goffin to win in three sets: 3/1 at 888Sport
