Novak Djokovic v Stefanos Tsitsipas Head to Head
The pair have played each other three times and, surprisingly perhaps, Tsitsipas leads their head to head series by two matches to one. The Greek got his first victory at the Rogers Cup last year, and, just a few weeks ago defeated the world number one in Shanghai. However, the Serb won on the clay of Madrid in May.
Djokovic, Chasing Fifth Title in Paris
Having previously won the event here in Paris in 2009, 2013, 2014, and 2015, Djokovic is looking for a fifth title in France which would extend his record to 34 Masters series victories, and 77 tournament wins in total.
He has had another strong year, winning four events, including the Grand Slams in Melbourne and Wimbledon, and the Masters title in Madrid. And, although injury forced him to pull out of the US Open, allowing Rafael Nadal to close the gap to him in terms of points, he knows that another strong performance here will virtually guarantee him the prestige of finishing 2019 as the world number one.
Certainly he has not been greatly challenged to this point in the event. Both Corentin Moutet of France and Kyle Edmund of Great Britain took him to a first set tie-break in their second and third round matches, but then Djokovic, in each case, found another gear in the second, and closed out their matches.

Tsitsipas, Looking to beat Djokovic Again
Like Djokovic, Tsitsipas has enjoyed a fair measure of success in 2019, winning two events, in Marseille and Estoril, and reaching another two finals, in Madrid, and Beijing. On top of that, he enjoyed the semi-final appearances at the Australian Open, in the Masters events in Dubai and the Washington Open, and then in Shanghai, where he pulled off a surprise victory over Djokovic.
Set to make his debut in two weeks’ time at the ATP Finals in London, he is looking to fine-tune his form ahead of that event.
So far this week, all has gone well. He eased past the American Taylor Fritz in straight sets on Wednesday, and then on Thursday beat the highly promising Australian player Alex de Minaur.
On paper, it was a tricky proposition for the Greek, but one he navigated easily, dominating his opponent both on serve and on return.
Djokovic v Tsitsipas Predictions & Tips
Djokovic will start favourite for this match, but Tsitsipas should not be underestimated, and has beaten the world number one twice in the past 16 months, including just recently in Shanghai. In the end though, it may just come down to experience. Djokovic has won 33 Masters Events in his career, and Tsitsipas has yet to win once. That may just give Djokovic the edge he heeds,
