Daniil Medvedev v Fabio Fognini Predictions & Tips
It’s been an interesting tournament for both Daniil Medvedev and Fabio Fognini, who have taken straightforward routes to get to the final. Neither has been tested, with Medvedev having beaten Jan-Lennard Struff and David Goffin while Fognini having overcome John Isner and Gael Monfils – both in straight sets.
While it’s been an extension of how Medvedev’s season had ended, Fognini has been a surprise package for sure. Especially since indoor court surfaces haven’t quite been his favourite by any stretch. In the last three tournaments he played on those surfaces, all of which came at the back-end of 2019, Fognini won one out of his four matches.
On the other hand, Medvedev was on a four-match losing streak – surprise, surprise – but that had come on the back of a season in which he had won four titles including the Shanghai Masters just before that.
Overall, they have already played each other three times and Medvedev holds a 2-1 edge. This includes a win for Medvedev at the Shanghai Masters, the same competition which the Russian went on to win. Can he make it 3-1?
Tip: Medvedev to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Click here to get these odds with bet365)
Jan-Lennard Struff v John Isner Predictions & Tips
Before Medvedev takes on Fognini, the consolation final will see American John Isner take on Jan-Lennard Struff. After having lost to Daniil Medvedev in their quarterfinal, Struff was left to face Michael Mmoh who came in as a reserve player and the German had no issue brushing him aside in straight sets.
Isner, on the other hand, followed up his first round loss at the hands of Fabio Fognini with a straight-set win over Stan Wawrinka. He was stretched in both sets as you would expect when it’s Isner, but the good news was he showed enough form to suggest he should start off as a humongous favourite.
And just to drill home that point, Isner and Struff have played each other four times before this and the American has won it every single time. This includes a straight-set win at the US Open second round.
Expecting another one of those straight-set victories for Isner.
Tip: Isner to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click here to get these odds with bet365)
