Nick Kyrgios v Felix Auger-Aliassime Head to Head
The pair have played each other once before, at the Queen’s Club last June, with Auger-Aliassime winning a close encounter in the third set.
Kyrgios Looking to Continue Winning Form
Kyrgios has pledged to donate AUS $200 for every ace that he serves in the tournament to the victims of the Australian bush fire, and the good cause has been boosted by AUS $4,000 as he produced twenty of them in his straight sets victory over Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany in their first round robin match on Friday.
It was a tight affair which saw only one break of serve in the entire match, secured by Kyrgios in the first set, with the second set secured on a tie-break. However, with the local crowd firmly behind him, he had just enough to see off the tough challenge from his opponent.
Afterwards a tearful Kyrgios confessed in a post-match interview that it was dreadful to see the impact that the deadly fires are having on his country. It was a side to him that hasn’t come out very often and coupled with a strong performance in his opener, it has shown a different side to him. Can he continue with more of the same?
Auger-Aliassime, Back to Winning Ways after Injury
Auger-Aliassime was one of the players of the first part of last season, reaching three finals – in Rio, Lyon and Stuttgart – and becoming the youngest ever semi-finalist at the Miami Masters. For a time the 19 year old was the Canadian number one, but injury brought an early end to his season, and he had to miss out on the NextGen ATP finals.
Now fit again, he made a strong comeback on his return to competitive tennis on Friday, beating the Greek number two, Michail Pervolarakis, ranked 467th in the world, in just 69 minutes.
He then paired up with friend Denis Shapovalov to see off the challenge of Pervolarakis and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the doubles, to complete the Canadian whitewash in their tie against Greece.
Nick Kyrgios v Felix Auger-Aliassime Predictions & Tips
Auger-Aliassime is ranked nine places above Kyrgios in the world rankings, and has won their only previous meeting. Despite this, the mercurial Australian may be regarded as the favourite, with home field advantage likely to be a factor. He also has a cause to believe in at the moment, so he will be looking to serve as many aces as possible in the match.
Tip: Kyrgios to win in straight sets: 11/10 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
