Marin Cilic v Kamil Majchrzak Predictions & Preview
This will be the first time that the 39th-ranked Marin Cilic will take on 101st-ranked Kamil Majchrzak when they face off in the ATP Cup 2020 on Monday. Cilic is coming off a hard-fought win over Dennis Novak, which formed a major part in Croatia’s 3-0 drubbing of the Dominic Thiem-led Austria.
Another win here for Croatia, as Cilic prepares to take on Poland’s Majchrzak, and Croatia could almost be assured of a berth in the quarterfinals. Now here’s the deal. Hubert Hurkacz had won their previous tie’s singles match but it was Majchrzak who went down to Diego Schwartzman which caused the Polish defeat to Argentina.
Majchrzak will need to get into the business lot quicker, and for a player who did well last season, he might think he should be able to push his opposition hard. Primarily playing at the Challenger level, Majchrzak had a 57-31 win-loss record in 2019, and with a 19-10 record on hard court surfaces – an indicator how he could trouble his opponent.
Cilic, as a result is a favourite but could be stretched to three sets.

Dennis Novak v Guido Pella Predictions & Preview
Again, Dennis Novak of Austria has never played Argentina’s Guido Pella before this. And this makes for an interesting match-up because Austria, for one, were pumelled 3-0 in their opener and secondly, one can invariably expect Dominic Thiem to pull up his socks in his match against Diego Schwartzman.
The onus, then, will fall on Dennis Novak to hold off Guido Pella but that won’t be easy. Novak is ranked outside the top 100, and was playing on the Challenger circuit last year while Pella, the 25th-ranked Argentine is coming off a win over Majchrzak. With his confidence that high after his maiden ATP title win in Sao Paulo and an above-average 2019, Pella will hope he can shrug off the poor record on hard court surfaces.
What his 7-10 win-loss record last season on hard courts does is to allow Novak an outside hope. He should be able to push this one to three sets.

Go Soeda v Aleksandre Metreveli Predictions & Preview
121st-ranked Go Soeda faces the Georgian 679th-ranked Aleksandre Metreveli for the first time in their careers and this should be as easy as it gets for the Japanese player. 35-year-old Soeda has been on the circuit for a while, and he started thing off with a 6-1, 6-3 drubbing of Martin Cuevas.
It’s the first match result of Metreveli that makes things interesting. Playing Robert Bautista-Agut in his opener, the Georgian was routed 6-0, 6-0. Even a couple of games won would be an improvement and while playing Soeda will be a different proposition from taking on a top-10 player, expect him to still go down easily.
Tip: Under 18.5 games in the match: 3/4 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
Yoshihito Nishioka v Nikoloz Basilashvili Predictions & Preview
The two haven’t played each other before this but Nikoloz Basilashvili will hope he can offset the performance of his teammate Aleksandre Metreveli in this one. Georgia’s chances of surviving this group are next to nothing but the big question is if they can deliver a face-saving performance.
Basilashvili had a tough opener in the form of Rafael Nadal but fought hard enough to push the Spaniard in the second set. He should back himself to win this one and the next singles match against Uruguay. That might not be enough given his team is probably one of the weakest in the tournament but the added incentive of garnering ATP points is a bonus.
73rd-ranked Nishioka won’t be a pushover, however, having crushed Pablo Cuevas 6-0, 6-1. This is also why this could go into a third set.
Tip: Three sets in the match: 11/8 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
