Stefanos Tsitsipas v Alex De Minaur Head to Head
The pair have met six times on the tour so far with the Greek winning five of them. The only victory for the Australian came on the grass courts at Surbiton Challenger back in 2017.
Tsitsipas with an Impressive Win Over Zverev
After losing to the Canadian number one, Denis Shapovalov in the first match of the tournament, Tsitsipas came back strong to beat Alexander Zverev in the straight sets. Although he was helped by his opponent who sent down 10 double faults and less then half of his first serves in.
But this victory will surely boost his confidence as he prepares to return to Melbourne where he had his career-best Grand Slam run. He reached the semi-finals at the Australian Open in 2019 going down to Rafael Nadal.
He had a strong season overall as he won three titles which included the year-end ATP Finals in London. Tsitsipas is one of the players who are seen as the next first time Grand Slam winners this year. It will be interesting to see how the 21-year-old cope with the expectations.
De Minaur on an Impressive Run with Two Victories
Local boy De Minaur has put in two impressive performances to prevail over higher-ranked opponents in, Alexander Zverev and Denis Shapovalov. His efforts have meant that Team Australia is guaranteed to finish on top of Group F. This will also mean that they have qualified for the quarter-finals.
The Australian is entering the new season on the back of a breakout 2019 where he won three titles, reached the finals at the ATP Next Gen Finals and broke into the top 20 in the world. He ended the season very strongly by winning 18 of the last 23 matches. He will be looking forward to playing in front of the home crowd in the first Slam of the year.
Last year he reached the third round at the Australian Open. Just like his next opponent he also went out at the hands of Nadal.
