Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic will look to win their respective quarterfinals as they build towards a potential meeting in the semifinal on Friday. Federer will take on unseeded and surprise quarterfinalist Tennys Sandgren in an afternoon match before Djokovic features in his quarterfinal against the strong-serving Milos Raonic.
Federer has seen a couple of stiff matches despite the low-ranked opponents. He needed five sets to overcome John Millman in a heart-stopping match before Marton Fucsovics grabbed the first set of their fourth round match. Federer responded in fine style to defeat Fucsovics in four sets after that.
Djokovic has been more clinical in his campaign so far, barely breaking into a sweat to make it to the last-eight. This includes an easy win against the dangerous Diego Schwartzman in the previous round as well. He takes on the 32nd-seeded Raonic who is looking to make a comeback following an injury-struck previous season.
These two matches will follow the two women’s quarterfinals including one having the local favourite and world number one Ash Barty. She has a task on her hands obviously as she faces Petra Kvitova for a place in the semifinal, having lost to her the last time they met at the Australian Open last year.
The day action will begin with surprise quarterfinalists, 14th seeded Sofia Kenin taking on Ons Jabeur at 11 am local time. While Kenin had shown signs of growing into a top-10 player, Jabeur had never even made a fourth round at Grand Slam competitions before this. This could go the distance.
