Nineteen-year old Canadian Felix Auger- Aliassime sprung onto the scene in the last two seasons and has performed remarkably to have reached a career high world number 17 ranking in late 2019. He is currently ranked just outside the top 20 in the world.
2019 saw Auger-Aliassime reach three ATP finals, in Rio, Lyon and the grass courts of Stuttgart. The young Canadian also recorded impressive wins throughout the year against players of the calibre of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Nick Kyrgios and Grigor Dimitrov among others.
Along with fellow Next Gen sensation Denis Shapovalov, Auger-Aliassime led Canada to the Davis Cup finals in November 2019 and the final eight of the inaugural ATP Cup last month.
The teenager did not have the best of Australian Opens losing out on Day One and will hope for a strong run here in Montpellier to get his season and confidence back on track.
Auger-Aliassime had to battle through a tricky three-setter in his opening match against veteran Damir Dzumhur, coming back from a set down to win in a decider.

Doubles specialist and winner of all major titles as a doubles player, Pierre- Hugues Herbert has looked to focus more on his singles game beginning 2019. The Frenchman has met with success on the faster hard, indoor and grass courts.
Herbert is looking to break into the top 50 on the singles tour and his continued hard work and commitment should assist him prevail.
The Frenchman was a quarterfinalist at the Qatar Open in Doha last month, defeated by eventual champion Andrey Rublev. His Australian Open was challenging as he ran into world number ten David Goffin in the second round and despite putting up a strong effort was edged out in a five-setter.
Herbert had a comfortable opener here in Montpellier, defeating Ukranian veteran Sergiy Stakhovsky in straight sets.
