Diego Schwartzman v Laslo Djere Head to Head

This is the second time these two will be facing off in a match with Schwartzman having won their only previous encounter. That had come on the hard court surface of Cincinnati last year with Schwartzman winning in straight sets in that opening round match.

Schwartzman Wins Both Matches in Straight Sets

After getting a first round bye, Schwartzman has been reasonably clinical with his performance so far. He overcame Jaume Munar in the second round 6-1, 7-5 before bagelling Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the first set of their quarterfinal.

And then, much like the previous round, Ramos-Vinolas also made a comeback, pushed the Argentine hard and the set went into a tie-breaker. Unfortunately for the Spaniard, that’s where his fight ended as he was sent packing 7-0 in the tie-breaker.

The Argentine certainly is quick off the blocks – as was the case even during the Australian Open where he won all his three matches in straight sets – but will hope he can overturn his late form issues. So far, so good from him but against a tougher opponent, that fall in intensity might come back to haunt him.

Djere Overcomes Londero in a Slug-Fest

The Serb, ranked 39th in the world, was expected to be in a slug-fest with Juan Ignacio Londero and that is exactly how things went in his quarterfinal. After losing the first set in a tie-breaker, Djere came back to level the match only to be taken to another tie-breaker in the final set.

Djere edged out his opponent 7-5 in that tie-breaker to set up a meeting with another Argentine in the semifinal.

On his day, Djere can get dangerous on clay but the big question for him is to be able to get past a player who has won 18 of his 19 titles at all levels on clay.

Diego Schwartzman v Laslo Djere Predictions & Tips

It won’t be straightforward for Schwartzman but he should get through in this one and make it to the final. A win for Schwartzman is at 1/4 while a three-set victory for the Argentine gets one 3/1. That’s what we think could be the case here.

Tip: Schwartzman to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
