Pablo Carreno Busta v Jannik Sinner Head to Head

This is the first meeting between both players.

Carreno Busta Faces a Fresh Challenger

Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta had a promising 2017 and was ranked number 10 in the world by year-end, a season which saw him make the French Open quarter-finals and the US Open semi-finals.

2018 and a good portion of 2019 saw a host of injuries and disappointing losses for the Spaniard, which resulted in a drop in rankings, as he attempted to make a comeback in mid-late 2019,  where he did well to win the Chengdu Open ATP 250, among other good showings.

Carreno Busta played a good supporting role for Team Spain in the ATP Cup, and his Australian Open campaign ended with a loss to none other than Rafa Nadal.

After a disappointing early loss last week in Montpellier, Carreno Busta arrived at Rotterdam in search of a better week. The Spaniard has had two tricky encounters against Adrian Mannarino and Roberto Bautista Agut, but come out successful on both occasions.

The former world number ten now plays an unknown opponent (for him) in the eighteen-year-old Italian teenager Jannik Sinner.

Sinner High On Confidence With Goffin Victory

Little known Italian teenager Jannik Sinner sprung on the scene last Fall when he was an ATP 250 semi-finalist at the age of 18. He was a semi-finalist at the ATP 250 in Antwerp where he defeated top-seed veteran Frenchman Gael Monfils en route.

Sinner followed this with an impressive run at the ATP Next Gen finals where he won the title in Milan in November 2019. The Italian defeated top 20 ranked and heavy favorite Aussie Alex De Minaur in the title round.

Sinner’s 2020 did not begin with the momentum from the end of last season however, as he faced underwhelming losses in the second round of the Australian Open and in the opener at Montpellier.

However, after a walkover in the first round here at Rotterdam against Radu Albot, Sinner hit good form as he faced world number ten from Belgium, David Goffin. A strong performance from the young Italian denied the number four seed as Sinner prevailed in straight sets, recording his first ever top ten victory and moving into the final eight.

Pablo Carreno Busta v Jannik Sinner Predictions & Tips

A crucial match for both players on the cards, with Carreno Busta looking to return to consistent ways and young Sinner hoping to establish himself further on the tour.

It feels like it will be a close match and the free playing style of Sinner may just come through in a deciding final set.
