Felix Auger-Aliassime v Pablo Carreno Busta Head to Head

This is the first meeting between both players.

Auger-Aliassime Eyes Silverware

Nineteen-year old Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime sprung onto the scene in the last two seasons and has performed remarkably to have reached a career high world number 17 ranking in late 2019.

2019 saw him reach three ATP finals, in Rio, Lyon and the grass courts of Stuttgart. The young Canadian also recorded impressive wins throughout the year against players of the calibre of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Nick Kyrgios and Grigor Dimitrov among others.

Auger-Aliassime led Canada to the Davis Cup finals and the final eight of the inaugural ATP Cup last month. The teenager did not have the best of Australian Opens losing out on Day One, and his Montpellier campaign last week, was cut short rather prematurely as well.

The Canadian has had a much improved week where he recovered well to defeat Jan-Lennard Struff in the opener and then had a convincing win against Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the last round.

In his semi-finals, he was up against Aljaz Bedene who has played some of his best tennis, coming off a win against Stefanos Tsitsipas. It was a stiff challenge, but the young Canadian prevailed in two tight sets.

With Auger-Aliassime on song and in flow, he will have his eyes on a first ever ATP title this weekend.

Carreno Busta Looking At Maiden ATP 500 Title

Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta had a promising 2017 and was ranked number 10 in the world by year-end, a season which saw him make the French Open quarter-finals and the US Open semi-finals.

2018 and a good portion of 2019 saw a host of injuries and disappointing losses for the Spaniard, which resulted in a drop in rankings, as he attempted to make a comeback in mid-late 2019,  where he did well to win the Chengdu Open ATP 250, among other good showings.

After a disappointing early loss last week in Montpellier, Carreno Busta arrived at Rotterdam in search of a better week.

The Spaniard has been out on court for a good amount of time already as he has had three-setters against Adrian Mannarino and Roberto Bautista Agut, and in the semis against Jannik Sinner.

The semi-final was a match of wild swings with Carreno Busta up a set and a break looking at a straight sets win only to lose the set and be down a break in a third. He did well to break back and clinch a back and forth tiebreak 8-6.
