Tough Encounter If Schwartzman Not Recovered
Since his fourth round loss at the Australian Open to eventual champion Novak Djokovic, it has been a challening two weeks for Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman.
In search of his first title in Argentina still, neither of his campaigns at Cordoba last week or Buenos Aires this week have been particular smooth thus far.
After a convincing quarter-final win at Cardoba against Albert Ramos Vinolas, the dealings got more difficult. A tricky semi-final against Laslo Djere was followed by another match that went to the decider in the title round, where Chilean Cristain Garin won the title.
Schwartzman’s endevaours at Buenos Aires have been challenging. The Argentinian had a challenging opener against compatriot Federic Delbonis which went to three sets. This was folllowed by another three setter against Uruguayan veteran Pablo Cuevas where SchwArtzman saved four match points amidst a leg injury which impaired his mobility.
Although the Argentine has made it through to the semi- finals it remains to be seen how he recovers as that will be key in determining how he proceeds further in the tournament.

Can Lucky Loser Sousa Continue His Run?
It’s been a shocking run for the lucky loser Pedro Sousa, who had lost to Facundo Bagnis in his qualifier. After making it to the main draw, he looked like he was on his way out when he lost the first set of his first round match before turning things around against Facundo Diaz Acosta.
The luck of draw continued for Sousa, as he was faced with opponents ranked rather low; Jozef Kovalik who is 129th in the world and Thiago Monteiro, ranked 92nd. And he made his opportunities count with his new-found confidence resulting in straight-set wins for Sousa.
Now he will be facing a top-ranked player, a former world number 11 and now 14th but as luck would have it, he isn’t fully fit either. Given how lucky the lucky loser has been this tournament, can Sousa continue making the most out of it?
