Auger-Aliassime Aiming For Back-To-Back Finals
Nineteen-year old Felix Auger-Aliassime has a strong 2019 which saw him reach three ATP finals, and included impressive wins against players such as Stefanos Tsitsipas, Nick Kyrgios and Grigor Dimitrov among others, and left one with high expectations for 2020.
After a disappointing Australian Open and an early loss in Montpellier, the Canadian had a much better run at the Rotterdam ATP 500 last week, where he was runner-up to in-form Gael Monfils.
Auger-Aliassime started shakily against Jan-Lennard Struff in the opener, but proceeded to record convincing wins against Grigor Dimitrov, Aljaz Bedene and Pablo Carreno Busta.
Auger-Aliassime came to Marseile in good form and one wondered how much was left in the tank.
The Canadian ran into two tough battles in the opening rounds, but prevailed saving match points in both matches against Italian Stefano Travaglia and Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
Auger-Aliassime had a more routine, but challenging quarter-final against Belarusian Egor Gerasimov and is again in the semi-finals for the second consecutive week, looking at another final ahead of him potentially.

Simon Coming Off Surprise Win Against Medvedev
Giles Simon has been on the tour for about a decade and a half, been ranked in the top ten of the ATP rankings at a point in time, been the winner of 14 ATP titles and looking to move back up in the ATP rankings.
Simon has been a consistent performer on the tour for a considerable period of time and has been intermittently successful in recent times as well.
The Frenchman won two ATP titles in 2018 and was a runner-up to Feliciano Lopez at the Queen’s Club ATP 500 last year and was a regular in the ATP top 50 rankings from 2005-2017, with 2017 being the first year he ended the year ranked outside the top 50.
A second round loss to home favorite Nick Kyrgios at the Australian Open, and an early loss to countryman Richard Gasquet were not the most ideal starts to his season.
The Frenchman picked his form last week in Rotterdam before a round of 16 loss to eventual champion Gael Monfils. This week in Marseille, he looked in good touch against in-form Aljaz Bedene before recording one of the biggest recent wins of his career against top-seed Daniil Medvedev.
Down a break 1-3 in the first set, Simon came back to record a 6-4, 6-0 win and now goes into the final four.
