Hugo Dellien v Renzo Olivo Bolt Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first meeting between the 26 year old Bolivian, and his fellow South American, who is one year older.
Dellien, Bolivia’s Top Player
The most successful male player that Bolivia has ever produced, Dellien, although he has never won a senior ATP event, has enjoyed a great deal of success on the junior tours, winning 16 Futures and 4 Challenger titles, including two in 2019, here in Santiago, and in Milan. All but one of his career finals have been on clay though – he does not perform nearly as well on other surfaces.
Currently ranked 94 in the world, he has had a poor start to 2020, with a succession of early defeats behind him, although he had the misfortune to be drawn against Rafael Nadal in his opening match in Melbourne.
However, having lost in the first round in Cordoba, Buenos Aires and Rio, he did not arrive in Chile filled with confidence. Despite that, he managed to overcome the Italian Marco Cecchinato in three sets in the first round, and then had a comfortable enough win over the local player, Marcelo Tomas Barrios Vera, in the second on Wednesday.

Olivo, Argentine Qualifier in First ATP Quarter Final
Currently ranked down at 297th in the world, Olivo spends the vast majority of his time on the Challenger tour, where he has been in six finals, and won three of them – in Santos, Brazil, and Buenos Aires in 2016, and in San Benedetto del Tronto in Italy last year. Like Dellien a clay court specialist, the best win of his career came at the French Open in 2017, when he beat the number 12 seed Jo-Wilfrid Tsonga.
This is the first time that he has made the main draw of an ATP tournament this year.
He began his season at the Challenger event in Bangkok, where he made the second round, and then reached the third round of the subsequent competition in Punta del Este, Uruguay. He failed to qualify for Cordoba, but came through two rounds of qualifying to make the main draw here in Santiago.
And he has now reached his first ATP quarter final by beating two players ranked considerably higher than him, Joao Sousa of Portugal, and Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay, both in three sets.
Hugo Dellien v Renzo Olivo Predictions & Tips
