Casper Ruud v Albert Ramos-Vinolas Head to Head
The pair have played each other four times before, and Ramos-Vinolas has won on each occasion. The sequence began in Barcelona in 2017, continued through to Roland Garros in 2018, and then to Kitzbuhel last year. And the Spaniard also won when they met in a qualifier for the Madrid Masters last May.
Ramos-Vinolas, Spanish Clay Court Specialist
Spanish clay court specialist Ramos-Vinolas has been in 9th ATP finals, all but one of them on his favourite surface, and has won two of them, in Sweden in 2016, and in Switzerland last year, a month later losing to Dominic Thiem in Kitzbuhel.
The world number 45, though, did not come into Santiago in the best of form, losing in the first round in both his tournaments in Australia, in Adelaide and Melbourne.
Switching his attention to the South American clay court swing, he made the quarter finals in Cordoba before losing to Diego Schwartzman, but lost to Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay in the second round in Buenos Aires, and was beaten first time out in Rio by compatriot Carlos Alvarez.
However, he has enjoyed two straight sets wins so far in Chile, beating first Juan Pablo Varillas of Peru, and then Thiago Monteiro of Brazil.

Ruud, Maiden Title in Buenos Aires
Ruud is already the most successful player Norway has ever produced, having reached his first ATP final at the US Men’s Clay Court Championships last April. And now he has affirmed that status with his maiden career title in Buenos Aires earlier this month, when he beat Pedro Sousa in the final in straight sets.
Like his opponent, Ruud lost both his matches on Antipodean soil – in Auckland and Melbourne, but has looked much more at home on South American clay, although he was beaten in the first round in Rio last week by Gianluca Mager of Italy.
Ruud’s two victories in Santiago so far have both come in straight sets, defeating first local wildcard Alejandro Tabilo, and then the number 7 seed, Federico Delbonis, of Argentina.
Albert Ramos-Vinolas v Casper Ruud Predictions & Tips
Although Ruud is the man in current form, having won his maiden ATP title in Buenos Aires, he has never beaten Ramos-Vinolas in any of their previous meetings, which gives the Spaniard the edge.
