Thiago Seyboth Wild v Renzo Olivo Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first meeting between the 192nd ranked Brazilian, and the Argentine, who is 105 places below him in the world standings.
Seyboth Wild, 2018 US Junior Champion
19 year old Seyboth Wild won the US Open junior singles title in 2018, and made his ATP main debut at the Brasil Open the same year.
He then won his maiden Challenger title in Guayanquil last November, beating Hugo Dellien of Bolivia in the final.
Seyboth Wild failed to qualify for the Australian Open, and lost in the first round of the Challenger event in Punta del Este, Uruguay, and in qualifying for Cordoba. However, he was given a wildcard in Rio and reached the second round, only to lose to Borna Coric, albeit narrowly.
Here in Santiago he be
agan by beating two Argentine opponents, both ranked higher than him, beginning with the number 131 Facundo Bagnis, and then the number five seed, Juan Ignacio Londero. He enjoyed some fortune though in his quarter final with the top seed Christian Garin – having taken the first set off his Chilean opponent, Garin was forced to retire injured.

Olivo, Argentine Qualifier in First ATP Semi-Final
Olivo is having the most successful week of his professional career, making the semi-final of a main ATP event for the first time.
The man who spends most of his time on the Challenger tour, where he has won three titles, the most recent of which came in San Benedetto del Tronto in Italy last year, was previously best known for his performance at the French Open in 2017 when he knocked out the number 12 seed Jo-Wilfrid Tsonga.
Yet the qualifier has produced a series of three set victories in Santiago, all over players ranked considerably higher than him in the world, beginning with Joao Sousa of Portugal. Then he beat the number five seed Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay, in a tense match decided on a tie-break. He then saw off the challenge of the Bolivian, Dellien in their quarter-final on Friday.

Neither man would have been expected to be competing at this stage of the tournament, and, whatever happens, whoever wins will get the chance to appear in their first ATP final. Seyboth Wild though, has the better pedigree from his days as a junior, and will start favourite to win this match.
