Johanna Konta v Tatjana Maria Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first meeting between the 28-year-old British player, and the German, four years here senior.

Konta, Straight-Set Winner over Clijsters
Konta has had a difficult start to the year after struggling with a knee injury that meant the number of events that she has entered has been limited.
And, despite being seeded second here, she had no form to speak of coming into this tournament, having lost all her three previous matches she had played in 2020.
It began in Brisbane – where she at least won a set against Barbora Strycova – and continued through to Melbourne and St. Petersburg, where she suffered straight set first round defeats to Ons Jabeur and the French qualifier Oceane Dodin respectively.
She would have been nervous, therefore, going into her first round match with Kim Clijsters, with the Belgian playing in just her second match of her third comeback.
Yet in a match dominated by serve, she forced a break in the seventh game of the first set to take that 6 – 3, and again in the eleventh game of the second set, with an unforced error from Clijsters enabling her to wrap up proceedings on her second match point.

Maria Defeated Acapulco Champion
32 year old Maria has spent most of her career on the ITF tour, where she has won 15 events. However, she has won one senior WTA title, the Mallorca Open in 2018, beating the Latvian Anastasija Sevastova in the final. She has also enjoyed some success on the doubles court, winning four tournaments, the most recent of which was the Korea Open last September when she was partnered by Lara Arruabarrena of Spain.
Beaten in the first round in both Adelaide and Melbourne, her best previous result this year came in the Challenger Event at Newport Beach where she got to the quarter finals only to lose to Nadia Podoroska of Argentina.
Knocked out in the second round of the Mexico Open by the Russian teenager, Anastasia Potapova, she has already enjoyed success against one British player this week, knocking out the Acapulco champion, Heather Watson, in three sets in the first round.
Johanna Konta v Tatjana Maria Predictions & Tips
Although Maria has already beaten one British player in Monterrey, Konta should have enough to make sure that it does not become two, now that she has her first win of 2020 under her belt, having passed both the physical and the psychological test against Clijsters.
Tip: Konta to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
