Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios do not see eye to eye on many things following an acrimonious history but that hasn’t stopped the Aussie from inviting Nadal to an Instagram Live chat.
The 12-time French Open winner Rafael Nadal leads his head to head against Kyrgios but only just and has lost to him at crucial times in their career. More importantly, their on-court relationship hasn’t been the greatest with Nadal having questioned Kyrgios’ lack of respect for the fans and Spaniard.
Kyrgios, on the other hand, had once announced in a press conference he had deliberately tried to smash the ball into Nadal’s body. He had also blamed Nadal of showing respect only when he was winning. He had also called Nadal “salty”.

Now, Kyrgios says he would like to have an Insta chat with Nadal following a tweet from BBC Sport which listed down the possible pairs who would make for interesting social media chats.
Kyrgios’ response to BBC Sport’s tweet saying: ‘We’d love to see these FaceTimes happen for real’ and listing Nadal and Kyrgios was:
“Rafael Nadal let’s do it.”

Things looked to have cooled down a little between the duo in the lead-up to their previous meeting at the 2020 Australian Open. The pair met in the fourth round and while Kyrgios fought valiantly, Nadal emerged a winner in four sets with the match going off without any major incident.
In the lead-up to that match, Kyrgios had attempted to clear the air too by saying he never disliked Nadal and they were just two different players.
It now remains to be seen if Nadal would accept Kyrgios’ request to feature in a live chat especially after his experiences with Roger Federer.
