23-time singles Grand Slam champion Serena Williams will be looking to make a comeback to tennis with an appearance at a tournament in Kentucky next month while Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have also begun their preparations.
However, not much is known of which of the Grand Slams Nadal and Djokovic will eventually play.
Williams, who hasn’t played since her Fed Cup singles match for USA against Latvia, will take part in the Top Seed Open in Kentucky according to the tournament organisers. This tournament, which is a part of the WTA International circuit, will be played between August 10-16 and will have a draw of 32 players.

Meanwhile the world number one Djokovic has given an indication he might play in the US Open after all. Having begun his practice on clay earlier, Djokovic has switched to the hard court surfaces of the Janko Tipsarevic Academy in Belgrade.
With a fourth round loss at the US Open last year, Djokovic could look to gain substantial number of ranking points going into this year’s tournament.
On the other hand, Nadal has resumed playing on clay, featuring at his own academy in Mallorca. While no official confirmation has been made by the Spaniard, he had earlier expressed his reservations about playing in New York at the US Open.
