Magda Linette v Lauren Davis Head to Head
Linette and Davis have faced off a total four times in their careers, with the latter leading the head to head 3-1 so far. Their most recent outing came earlier this year in Hobart, and Davis won that second round encounter 6-4, 6-4. Linette’s only win over Davis came in Tokyo in 2015.

And we say this because of how the season had gone for her. It started off with a crushing first round defeat at the Shenzhen Open and then a win later, she lost in the second round match in Hobart.
At the Australian Open following those two tournaments, Linette looked to be on the right track to move to the second round by scooping the opening set with utmost ease against Arantxa Rus but then went down in the next two.
It was at the Fed Cup, Linette turned things around for herself. She won all her three matches in the competition in straight sets and then went into the Hua Hin, where she won five straight matches to clinch her third WTA title.
While another opening round defeat at Doha took some of the sheen off that win, she will now hope she can push on in her first tournament since return. Linette did play in four matches on the hard courts of the Grand Slam Tennis Tours MatchPlay last month which should ease her into this return.

Davis With Modest but Consistent Returns This Year
Unlike her opponent, Linette, Davis hasn’t won a title since 2017, but she has been around for a while and pack a punch at times. Give her an inch and you can expect a favourable result for her, but her woes have been to do with pushing on deeper into tournaments.
Take this season itself for instance. She made the second round in Auckland, the quarterfinal at the Hobart International and then the second round at the Australian Open. Losses to Caroline Wozniacki and Elina Svitolina outline her problems against higher pedigreed opponents.
A first round defeat at the Acapulco Open was a low point for her in the season before she ended the year with a second round appearance in Monterrey.
Davis did have a brilliant 2019 season with the high point coming at Wimbledon where she had to qualify to make the main draw and she then defeated Angelique Kerber in the second round.
