Magdalena Frech v Arantxa Rus Head to Head
This will be the second outing between Frech and Rus, with the previous one having come in the 2019 Wimbledon qualifiers. Rus had easily won that one in straight sets, but had failed to make it to the main draw of the competition.

Lucky Loser Frech Makes Round Two
Despite having lost in her final qualifier encounter, Frech was able to make it to the main draw as a lucky loser and then got ‘luckier’ with her first round opponent. It came against another qualifier, Elena Ruse, and Frech was able to come through in straight sets.
She won 7-6, 6-3 to make it to the second round.
Interestingly, Frech entered this tournament on the back of some solid form. While she had lost in opening qualifying round at Palermo, Frech was the National Championship winner in a tournament played in July. And before that, there was another title win in the Polish National Tour.
Frech had begun the season with an ITF tournament win in Canberra, without dropping a set in the competition as well. In turn, she has shown her calibre on both clay and hard court surfaces this season.

Rus Coming off a Strong Showing
Rus is coming off a straight-set win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, a strong performance against a player ranked 30th in the world. She had participated in the Palermo Open last week but came up against a solid showing from Donna Vekic where she went down 6-1, 6-2.
Earlier this year, Rus had made it to the semifinal at the Monterrey Open following on from a finals showing in an ITF tournament Andrezieux-Boutheon.
The kicker comes in the form of how Rus went on clay last season. Including all tiers, including the ITF competitions, Rus ended the season on 56-12 win-loss record on red dirt and that included a whopping eight titles on that surface.
She should fancy her chances in this one.
Magdalena Frech v Arantxa Rus Prediction & Tip
Rus is a strong favourite to win this one, with bet365 offering 8/13 to complete the victory. Backing her to win this in straight sets.
