Elias Ymer v Martin Klizan Head to Head
This will be the first time Sweden’s 24-year-old Ymer will be facing the Slovakian Klizan in a match at this level.

Ymer Hasn’t Played Too Much This Year
Sure, the season was suspended for the best part of five months, but even then, Ymer hadn’t featured in too many matches before this tournament in Prague.
He played at the Canberra Challenger at the start of the year and lost in the first round and then followed it up directly with a Davis Cup appearance in March where he played and lost in one match again.
At the Nur-Sultan Challenger, which turned out to be his last tournament before the pandemic broke out, Ymer won his first match of the season, before losing in the third round.
Ymer featured in the Swedish Summer Tour after that, winning four matches against fellow Swedes to lift the trophy on clay. And with a 6-3, 6-4 first round win against Evgeny Karlovskiy here in Prague, things look like they have turned around a tad for the Swede.

Klizan Playing His First Match Since February
The former world number 24 Martin Klizan hasn’t played since February 2020 when he made the main draw at the Santiago Open but lost to Federico Delbonis in the opener.
This had been preceded by three tournaments, including the Australian Open with Klizan’s best showing having come in the Noumea Challenger where he made the quarterfinal. A bye in the first round of the Bangkok Challenger in January was followed by a second round exit there.
And that had been that for me. Since then, Klizan hasn’t been involved in any competitions, opting to wait it out before making the main draw in Prague as a seeded player. With the Italian Open and French Open in mind, Klizan will hope to make some kind of dent here leading into the rest of the curtailed season.
