Philipp Kohlschreiber v Michael Vrbensky Head to Head
This is the first match between Germany’s Kohlschreiber and the 402nd-ranked Vrbensky.

Kohlschreiber Runs Home with Easy Opening Win
Having played just one tournament during the pandemic break, Kohlschreiber would have been expected to huff and puff a tad in his opening match here in Prague. However, after a first round bye, Kohlschreiber came through 6-1, 7-6 in the second round against Mats Moraing.
The advantage the German had was Moraing is far back down the rankings ladder and he himself hadn’t played too much tennis with just three matches spread across 14 days. Kohlschreiber might not be facing a very high-ranked player again in his third round match but one who can be called anything but rusty.
That said, Kohlschreiber has experience on his side, with the former world number 16 having won eight ATP titles including six of them on clay. Add a Wimbledon quarterfinal to that list and you know he wouldn’t take too many matches to get back into his full rhythm.

Vrbensky Showed Sparkle in the Break
At the beginning of the season, Vrbensky, who began playing late in 2016, was still participating in Futures events. His record in the two Challenger competitions at that stage resulted in one win and two defeats, but since then he hasn’t let the break affect him.
A title win at the President’s Cup in Czech Republic was followed by another tournament victory at the Svijany Open in which he won three group stages matches and the next couple of knockouts.
Here, at the Prague Challenger, Vrbensky hasn’t dropped a set yet. The Czech wild-card started off his campaign with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Daniel Masur before defeating the 16th-seeded Steven Diez. Again, that was a straight-set victory.
Now comes his first real challenge and a win here could go on to become the best ever of his short career.
Philipp Kohlschreiber v Michael Vrbensky Prediction & Tip
Kohlschreiber starts off at 3/10 to win this and he will be a favourite to win it in straight sets unless Vrbensky can find another gear to his game.
Tip: Kohlschreiber to win in straight sets: 5/6 (bet365)
