Laaksonen’s First Wins in a Row This Season
Before entering this tournament at the Prague Challenger, Laaksonen had gone into bit of a rut form-wise. Other than one exhibition competition where he lost his only match he played, Laaksonen hasn’t won two matches in a row in any tournament this season.
In fact, the last time he did that was in October 2019, and even that was just that once since July 2019.
This season, he started off with a match win at the Canberra Challenger, and then went on a five-match losing streak. A win in the Davis Cup was followed by another couple of losses just before this tournament.
Which is why, coming into this tournament, despite a first round bye, Laaksonen wasn’t too much of a favourite to reach the quarterfinals. He took three sets to beat 373rd-ranked Jan Satral and when he was a set down against Yannick Maden, the writing seemed to be on the wall.
Interestingly, he fought back to win the next two sets to win and make the last-eight stage.

Karatsev Makes it Three Straight-Set Wins in a Row
Ranked 263rd in the world, Karatsev had come into this tournament on the back of having played the East Coast Pro Series on clay before this. The month-long tournament saw him feature in 23 matches and finish with a win-loss record of 17-6.
The record itself was a superb one but having played tennis for a period of a month over a month meant he came into the Prague Challenger on the back of some confidence.
And that showed.
In the first round, Karatsev defeated former world number 33 Robin Haase, then stunned the one-time 35th-ranked Jiri Vesely before overcoming former world number 10 Ernests Gulbis in round three.
All of which came in straight sets.
Henri Laaksonen v Aslan Karatsev Prediction & Tip
While Laaksonen is the seeded player, Karatsev will be the favourite here as he looks to extend his form to win his fourth match in a row.
Tip: Karatsev to win: 8/11 (bet365)
