Elias Ymer v Michael Vrbensky Head to Head
Ymer, who is ranked 206th in the world, will be facing the 402nd-ranked Vrbensky for the first time in his career.

Ymer on Seven-Match Winning Streak
Having played in the Swedish Summer Tour competition in the lead-up to this Prague Challenger, Ymer won four matches in a row to win the title. And with that sort of a result, albeit against lower-ranked players, under his belt, Ymer has now gone on to add another three victories in a row.
Evgeny Karlovskiy was dispatched easily in straight sets, before he needed three sets against former world number 24 Martin Klizan in the second round. And then in the third round, Ymer defeated Tomas Machac in another three-setter to take one step closer to winning his first title since the Pune Challenger of 2018.
What’s interesting to note is Ymer has won eight of his lower-tier titles on clay, which includes wins in Futures and Challengers but none since 2017. For him to then win seven in a row on clay is an indicator of how things could turn out if he gets some luck of the draw.

Vrbensky Advantaged by Pullout
Vrbensky is ranked 402nd in the world and not too many had given him a chance to get past the very experienced and crafty Philipp Kohlschreiber in his third round match. As it turned out, Kohlschreiber did not make it to the match, affording Vrbensky a walkover, a place in the quarterfinals and a few precious ATP Ranking Points.
Having not played too many Challengers this season, given his ranking of 400+ doesn’t allow him that luxury, Vrbensky would be rather chuffed at having made the last eight. His previous two appearances in such tournaments this season had resulted in a first and second round exit respectively.
The Czech, however, did play in a few exhibition competitions and won the title at two of them – the President’s Cup and the Svijany Open. With 7-5, 7-5 victory against Daniel Masur in his opener and a straight-set stunning of the 16th-seeded Steven Diez in the second round, he will have a reasonable amount of confidence coming into this match.
Will he have the ammo though?
Elias Ymer v Michael Vrbensky Prediction & Tip
Ymer could be pushed to the distance but he should have enough fuel in the tank to take out Vrbensky and make the semifinal.
Tip: Ymer to win: 8/15 (bet365)
