Kyle Edmund v Kevin Anderson Head to Head
This will be the third meeting between Edmund and Anderson with both having won once apiece. Interestingly, both their matches have come in Grand Slams and both went into a fifth set.
In the first, Anderson came back from two sets to one down to win the third round at the 2017 French Open. Edmund had his revenge when he toppled Anderson in round one at the Australian Open the following year.

Edmund Returns to the City of His Last Title
While Edmund crashed out in the first round of the Australian Open this year and didn’t quite make an impression at the Qatar Open either, his rest of the season has been quite unforgettable.
He made the quarterfinal at the Auckland Open before losing to John Isner, and followed up his opening loss at Melbourne Park with a sterling showing in New York where he participated in the New York Open. He went on to lift the title there, and in the process doubled his ATP trophy count.
A quarterfinal at Acapulco saw him go down to Taylor Fritz, but he followed that up with a couple of brilliant performances in the Battle of the Brits. In the first, he won four matches in a row to make it to the final where he went down to Dan Evans and followed that up with a 5-1 win-loss record in the team event of the same tournament.
Form and confidence is definitely on his side.

Anderson Hasn’t Played Too Much
Since his career-best two titles in the season of 2018 which also saw him reach the final at Wimbledon and a career-best ranking of fifth in the world, Anderson’s career has plumetted because of a variety of reasons but most vitally, injury.
In 2019, Anderson played in just 20 matches, and while he won 14 of them including a title early in the year at the Pune Open, the rest of the season didn’t go as well as he would have liked. Anderson last featured in the Wimbledon that year before calling it off because of fitness issues.
Anderson’s ranking has now fallen to 123rd in the world as a result of that, and because he has played in only six matches this year, he comes into this tournament without any match practice whatsoever. Interestingly, the last time he lifted his racquet for a match on the ATP tour, it was in New York too where he lost his opener.
Kyle Edmund v Kevin Anderson Prediction & Tip
This should be an easy one for Edmund despite Anderson’s former pedigree. The lack of match practice will play a huge part and we are backing Edmund to win this in straight sets.
Tip: Edmund to win in straight sets: 1/1 (bet365)
