Veronika Kudermetova v Ajla Tomljanovic Head to Head
This is the second time Kudermetova and Tomljanovic will be facing off in a competitive match having played for the first time last season. In that match, Kudermetova had steamrolled the Aussie to a straight-set win in the Tianjin Open.

No Tennis for Kudermetova During the Break
The Russian came back from the pandemic by participating in the Prague Open on clay and was the favourite against Eugenie Bouchard. In a shocking result, Bouchard tamed her opponent 6-0, 6-3.
Kudermetova will be hoping to shrug off that loss on a surface she is more at home. On hard courts, the Russian had a 26-12 win-loss record last season, and this season she has already made it to the semifinal in one of the competitions. This happened early in the year in Hobart where she defeat Cici Bellis and Samantha Stosur before going down to Shuai Zhang in the semifinal.
Later in Dubai, she made it to the main draw by winning three qualifiers and then caused one of her biggest upsets of the year, crashing through Dayana Yastremska in her opener.
Her pre-pandemic season ended with a second round loss at the Qatar Open to Belinda Bencic.

Tomljanovic Hasn’t Won Two in a Row This Season
Starting her season at Brisbane, Tomljanovic has played in seven tournaments this season and not once has won twice in a row. These campaigns include second round losses at Brisbane, Adelaide, Australian Open, St. Petersburg Open and Qatar Open.
And then there was a qualifying loss at Dubai, before she returned to the tour after resumption last week at Lexington where Tomljanovic was crushed by Yulia Puntinseva. Puntinseva won 6-0, 6-4.
This comes as bit of a surprise given Tomljanovic is a solid hard court player, having won 66 of 108 matches over the past three seasons across tournaments on this surface.
Veronika Kudermetova v Ajla Tomljanovic Prediction & Tip
Kudermetova might not have begun too well but she should be a different player on hard court surfaces as she takes on a struggling Tomljanovic in this match. Kudermetova to win this.
Tip: Kudermetova to win: 8/11 (bet365)
