Fritz a Finalist at Acapulco This Year

Having won his maiden ATP title last season, Fritz went on to make it to the final of the Acapulco Open earlier this year before losing to Rafael Nadal. However, it was his wins over John Millman, Ugo Humbert, Kyle Edmund and fellow American John Isner were the talking points of the tournament for him.

Slowly, but surely, Fritz is beginning to emerge from the shadows of Isner and as things stand, just three places behind him. Isner, ranked 21st, is the American number one at the moment.

What Fritz would like for is to show some more consistency in the bigger tournaments, having never reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam before this. Earlier this year, in the only major that was played, Fritz huffed and puffed into the third round but lost to the in-form star Dominic Thiem, taking a set off him.

Can Fritz push on in one of the Masters tournament to give him the shot of confidence he so dearly desires at the big league.

Qualifier Harris Came Close to Maiden ATP Title

Ranked 98th in the world, Harris is a qualifier here, having reached the main draw with wins over Mikael Ymer and Andrej Martin. The Ymer win was bit of a shock given his Swede opponent is ranked more than 30 places ahead of him but Harris has made the main draws of tournaments as a qualifier before and done well.

The Adelaide International earlier this year is a case in point. Harris needed to win a couple of matches to make it to the main draw and then defeated Cristian Garin, Laslo Djere, Pablo-Carreno Busta and Tommy Paul to make it to the final. In the title-decider he was crushed by Andrey Rublev but by then he had already established his best result.

Things haven’t been as rosy since then, with losses in the first round of the Australian Open and Dubai Open and another in the qualifiers of the Marseille Open but as he has shown during the qualifying rounds here, he has the weapons to surprise his opponents.

Taylor Fritz v Lloyd Harris Prediction & Tip

Fritz is 4/11 to win this match and shouldn’t have too many problems given he has been playing during the pandemic break at the World TeamTennis. Expecting a straight-set victory.

Tip: Fritz to win in straight sets: 10/11 (bet365)
