Tommy Paul v Ricardis Berankis Head to Head
This is the second time that Paul and Berankis will be clashing with their first match having come at the Montreal Masters last year. It was in the qualifiers and Paul had needed three sets to defeat his Lithuanian opponent.

Paul Had a Solid ATP Season Start
Having made the main draw of the Adelaide International in the first tournament of the season, Paul went on to make the semifinal of the competition. Other than the defeat in the last-four, Paul did not drop a set through the competition in the five matches he had played.
Going into the Australian Open with that much confidence, Paul ensured he made the most of it. Having never proceeded beyond the opening round at any of three majors he had played in, the American defeated Leonardo Mayer and Grigor Dimitrov in the first two rounds at the first major of the year.
Later he won his opening round match at the Delray Beach Open and was then a losing quarterfinalist at the Acapulco Open.
While Paul did not have a great pandemic break where he went on a seven-match losing streak in a couple of exhibition competitions, the amount of tennis he has played should ensure there wouldn’t be any rustiness for him.

Qualifier Berankis Hoping to Level His Best Showing
Once a top-50 player, the best showing for Berankis this season came at the Pune Open when he made the semifinal of that ATP 250 event. Three tie-breakers against Jiri Vesely could have gone either way but for some misfortune.
Since then, Berankis, who has never won a title in his career, lost in his opener at Dubai before a second round win at the Monterrey Challenger.
Having made the second round of a Masters competition on only two occasions before this, a victory here would be rare and difficult.
Tommy Paul v Ricardis Berankis Prediction & Tip
Interesting to note both players start off at 5/6 to win this. Our punt is on Paul to edge this one out, given his showing all season and no perceptible rust during the break.
Tip: Paul to win: 5/6 (bet365)
