Marketa Vondrousova v Laura Siegemund Head to Head
Vondrousova won the pair’s only meeting in the first round at Indian Wells last year, 6-4 7-6. It was a result which served as catalyst for a brilliant week in the Californian desert for the Czech left-hander who went on to reach the semifinals.

Vondrousova Yet To Hit Thrills of 2019
Marketa Vondorusova was tipped by many to spearhead the younger cohort of elite Czech players. After all, she had won her maiden WTA title at just 17, ranked No.233 in the world.
In a watershed moment for the left-handed 21-year-old, she reached the final of Roland Garros in 2019 at astronomical odds. Granted, she had explosive firepower off the ground and the ability to hit deft shots from the baseline, Vondorusova took advantage of slightly ‘easier’ route to the final. Although she did not acquit herself well against the World No.1 Ashleigh Barty in the final, it was still a brilliant fortnight for Vondrousova.
Her first half of 2019 can be termed as breakthrough and brilliance. However, since reaching the finals of the French Open, she blew hot and cold. That was largely due to a wrist injury that forced her to end her season after Wimbledon.
She underwent surgery last September to repair the damage, but she hasn’t found her touch in 2020. Could this truncated season be a blessing in disguise for the 21-year-old to hit the ground running yet again?

Siegemund Gets Through Qualifiers
In contrast, Laura Siegemund has fared decently this year. She reached the quarterfinals in Auckland by beating Coco Gauff and Caty McNally before losing to eventual champion Serena Williams.
Siegemund, who hit a purple patch during the 2016 and 2017 seasons, has been held back by injury problems in the last two seasons and as a consequence, her ranking took a hit. She has navigated her way into main draw action by playing a handful of qualifiers in the past one year which most times jeopardized her chances of doing well throughout the week.
The veteran German was a busy fixture during the shutdown, playing in nearly 17 matches. Can she take advantage of her match fitness to spring an upset?
Vondrousova v Siegemund Prediction & Tip
It would be foolish to write off Siegemund’s chances here. Vondrousova has been in awful form and has slightly gone under the radar. The value is certainly on the German to win here, but we reckon the games market is also a very suitable option.
Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 10/11 (bet365)
