Cameron Norrie v Reilly Opelka Head to Head

In their only previous outing, Norrie had gotten the better of Opelka but that was a match from a Futures tournament in 2016. He had won 6-2, 6-4 in that first round match.

Norrie with a Solid Showing in Break

While the official tennis suspended for five months, Norrie played in three British tournaments and gave a solid account of himself. While some of the players he was up against were ranked way down the ladder, he notched up a few good wins.

In the first edition of the Battle of the Brits, he made the semifinal before losing to Kyle Edmund, and followed it up with a title win at the British Tour competition. At the team event of the former, Norrie won four in a row including a couple of wins over Brit number one Daniel Evans before losing to the same opponent.

With that much confidence under his belt, Norrie won his qualifying rounds to make the main draw. He defeated Mikhail Kukushkin in straight sets before Kamil Majchrzak managed to take a set off him.

Although ranked a good few places behind Opelka, Norrie looks to have reinvented himself into a more consistent player and should be able to put up a more than decent fight in this one.

Opelka with Two Titles over 12 months

With a career-best ranking of 31st in the world, Opelka has already won a couple of titles in his short career. The first one came in New York last year before he pocketed the Delray Beac Open title earlier this season.

Unfortunately for Opelka, the results of the rest of his season haven’t been all that exciting. A first round loss at Adelaide and the Australian Open and just one match won at the New York Open rounded off his pre-pandemic season but he did win the one Davis Cup singles match he did play then.

Having played on both hard courts and clay during the break, spread across three different tournaments, Opelka would definitely be prepared for this but it’s just about getting into the rhythm of ATP tennis again.

Cameron Norrie v Reilly Opelka Prediction & Tip

Bet365 have Opelka starting out as a favourite at 8/11 but Norrie shouldn’t be far behind and depending on how the former is feeling, could even sneak through this one. Expecting an edgy affair and that’s also why we are looking at the games market on this one.

Tip: Over 25.5 games in the match: 5/60 (bet365)
