Collins, an Australian Open Semi-Finalist in 2019
Collins is currently 51 in the world, but she was ranked 23 last January, after her exploits at the Australian Open that year which saw her reach the semi-finals. That was by far her best performance in a Grand Slam, – she has not been beyond the third round in any other of the major events.
She turned pro comparatively later at aged 22, after her college career, and has won one solitary WTA title, the Newport Challenger event in January 2018, beating Sofya Zhuk of Russia in the final.
She began 2020 well, reaching the quarter finals in Brisbane and the semi-finals the following week in Adelaide, where she was eventually beaten by Ashleigh Barty, the world number one.
However, she was beaten in the second round in Melbourne and has not played since. She was meant to play in the WorldTeamTennis tournament for the Orlando Storm, but was thrown out of the tournament for flouting health protocols and leaving the State of Virginia.

Teichmann Finished Runner-Up in Lexington
23-year-old Teichmann, who is the second-ranked Swiss Player behind Belinda Bencic, enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2019, winning her first two WTA titles. First, she beat Karolina Muchova in front of her home fans to win the Prague Open, and then she overcame Kiki Bertens to clinch victory in Palermo.
Earlier this year, though, she was knocked out in the first round in Melbourne to continue her poor records in Grand Slams, where she has just a single win at the US Open to her name.
However, she had a fine run in Lexington last week, where she reached the final of both the singles and the doubles. She was beaten by Jennifer Brady in the singles, and, partnered by Marie Bouzkova, went down to Hayley Carter and Luisa Stefani in the doubles.
Despite that, she had to qualify for this event, beating first Aliona Bolsova of Spain and then the American Shelby Rogers, both in straight sets.
Danielle Rose Collins v Jil Belen Teichmann Prediction & Tip
Although Collins is the higher ranked player, she has not played competitive tennis for a while and will be rusty, whilst Teichmann is a player in form after her achievements in Lexington. That makes her the favourite to win again and continue her fine start since lockdown
Tip: Teichmann to win in three sets: 16/5 (bet365)
