Katerina Siniokova v Kirsten Flipkens Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first meeting between the 24-year-old Czech player, and the Belgian, who is 10 years her senior.

Siniokova, A Czech Doubles Specialist
24-year old Siniokova is more of a doubles than a singles specialist. With her usual partner Barbora Krejcikova, she won the French Open and Wimbledon titles in 2018. They were beaten finalists in Melbourne earlier this year whilst, partnered on that occasion by Lucie Hradecka, she was runner-up in the US Open in 2017.
However, she has also enjoyed success in singles, reaching five finals and winning two of them, both in 2017 – first in Shenzhen and then Bastad.
2020 has not been a very good year for her so far. She lost in the first round in Shenzhen and Melbourne and her challenge in Dubai ended at the second-round stage. And then she went out in the first round again in Doha.
Since the resumption of the sport, she has played in a series of exhibition events in her home country of the Czech Republic. However, in her first competitive match in the Prague Open, she was beaten in the first round by Tamara Zidansek of Slovenia.

Flipkens, an Experienced Belgian Player
Flipkens is now 34 and getting towards the veteran stage of a professional career that started as far back as 2003. In all that time, she has only ever won one WTA tournament, the Tournoi de Quebec in 2013, although she has made three other finals, the last of which was the Rosmalen Championships in 2016.
That was played on grass, and it is perhaps significant that her best performance in a Grand Slam came at Wimbledon in 2013 when she reached the semi-finals. She has never been beyond the fourth round of any other of the major tournaments.
Flipkens is one of the few players on tour who wears prescription glasses.
Prior to lockdown, she had not enjoyed much success in 2020. She was beaten in the first round in Melbourne, failed to qualify for Dubai, and, although she did make it into the main draw in Doha, was then beaten by Dayana Yastremska in straight sets.
On her return to action in Palermo, she suffered another first round defeat, but has qualified for this tournament after first beating Katarina Zavatska of the Ukraine, and then enjoying a slice of good fortune when Katie Volynets of the USA had to retire midway through their match.
Katerina Siniokova v Kirsten Flipkens Prediction & Tip
Whilst neither woman has much form coming into this match, Siniokova is higher ranked and has the better record on tour. This might just be the type of match which will help her find her touch and timing again.
Tip: Siniokova to win in three sets: 18/5 (bet365)
