Dusan Lajovic v Pablo Carreno Busta Head to Head
This will be the sixth meeting between Lajovic and Busta, with the Spaniard leading 3-2 on head to head. Their only match on hard court surface came in their last match-up, in the fourth round of the Indian Wells Open of 2017. Busta was a straight-set winner over Lajovic in that one.

Lajovic Helped Serbia Win ATP Cup
Partnering Novak Djokovic in the ATP Cup, Lajovic won four of his six singles matches to help Serbia win the inaugural edition of the competition. He followed that up with another solid showing at the Australian Open where he reached the third round before losing to Diego Schwartzman, helping him get to his career-best ranking of 23rd in the world.
He lost in the second round at the next three competitions he played, at Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Acapulco, but strangely things turned to be worse during the pandemic.
Lajovic has played five matches during the tennis break, at the Adria Tour and Eastern European Championship, losing all of them. So while the initial part of the season saw him play some excellent tennis, these five defeats might prove to be a confidence-denter.

Busta Showed Some Early Sparkle in 2020
After a first round bye and a second round win, Busta was sent packing by Lloyd Harris in Adelaide, but he came back strongly to make it to the third round of the Australian Open. Unfortunately he proved to be no match for Rafael Nadal in that match.
A first round exit at Montpellier was rather surprising but he bounced back strongly with a semifinal appearance in Rotterdam. That turned out to be his best showing for the season so far.
What’s interesting to note is as a Spaniard, Busta is still a solid hard-court player, having finished the previous season with a win-loss record of 20-7. Three of his four tournament wins at the ATP level have come on hard and indoor hard courts.
Dusan Lajovic v Pablo Carreno Busta Prediction & Tip
While there’s not much to choose between the two players on paper, with Lajovic ranked 23rd to Busta’s 25th, the latter’s solid showing on hard court surfaces makes him the favourite.
Tip: Busta to win: 2/5 (bet365)
