Petra Kvitova v Marie Bouzkova Head to Head
This will be the first ever match between Czech compatriots Kvitova and Bouzkova who are separated by 36 places on the WTA rankings.

While Kvitova has fallen to 12th in the rankings, one cannot look away from the fact she is still delivering results. Take 2020 for example and while she hasn’t won a single title so far, there have been some excellent performances already.
She made the semifinal of the Brisbane International before falling in three sets to Madison Keys, and then looked like she might emulate her run to the title-decider of the Australian Open last year as she reached the last-eight stage in 2020. Facing the world number one Ash Barty, Kvitova gave a good account of herself in the first set but fell away in the second of that match.
And then she came close to grabbing a title at Qatar Open where she reached the final; defeating Barty this time in three. Aryna Sabalenka stopped her in her tracks in the title-decider this time.
As such, the sense one gets from Kvitova, who had earlier said she wasn’t sure if she would participate in this New York leg of WTA tennis, it’s a matter of time before she goes all the way in a tournament and clinches a trophy.

Bouzkova Close to Her Best
Despite not having played in a single exhibition tournament during the break – and Czech tennis had organised a few of them including a couple that even Kvitova played – Bouzkova has had a decent return to tennis.
The 48th-ranked player reached the quarterfinal of the first tournament she played in Lexington, which included a win against Johanna Konta and then in the first round here, dispatched Anna Kalinskaya in fine style. Bouzkova won 6-1, 7-5.
Earlier this year, Bouzkova came close to winning her maiden WTA title as she reached the final of the Monterrey Open but went down fighting in a three-setter to Elina Svitolina. It was her first ever WTA final and would have told her she belonged, a necessary component in the life and success of a sportsperson.
