Ons Jabeur v Christina McHale Head to Head
This will be their second meeting overall and first in main draws of a WTA tournament. Their only previous match came in the 2017 Qatar Open qualifiers where McHale won in straight sets.

Jabeur Sends Defending Champion Packing
Before 2020, Jabeur had never reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam or the third round of a Premier tournament. This year, she has achieved both.
Jabeur reached the quarterfinal at the Australian Open and then followed it up with a similar showing at the WTA Dubai, stunning the likes of Johanna Konta, Caroline Garcia, Caroline Wozniacki, Wang Qiang and Karolina Pliskova on her way to doing that.
And now she is on the verge of doubling that count at the Cincinnati Open.
In her first round here, Jabeur overcame a first set bagel to defeat Leylah Fernandez before routing Madison Keys, the defending champion, 6-4, 6-1. It was her fourth top-20 victory this year, an indicator of how far she has come in 2020.
Needing just 59 minutes to make it to the third, Jabeur will be looking at beyond this upcoming match alone; a possible semifinal meeting with Serena Williams could make for a delightful contest.

McHale Showing Long-Due Sparkle
At a world ranking of 90th, McHale is the second-lowest ranked player left in the draw. As a qualifier, who defeated Usue Arconada and Daria Kasatkina to make it to the main draw, McHale has already stunned the much-favoured Iga Swiatek and Ekaterina Alexandrova in her first two rounds.
And the last three of those wins have come in straight sets including her last round match against the Russian Alexandrova who had gone into the match at 2/5 favourite to win it.
McHale has shown these signs earlier in the year too. She made the second round in Auckland, quarterfinal at the Newport Beach Open and then another last-eight appearance at Acapulco where she went down to Heather Watson in three. And after featuring in the World TeamTennis for San Diego Aviators – who incidentally finished last! – McHale has shown wherewithal in this tournament so far.
Question is if she can push an in-form Jabeur into submission?
Ons Jabeur v Christina McHale Prediction & Tip
Bet365 are offering 4/9 for a Jabeur win but it could be a bit of a fight here, with a third set looking likely. Going for the over-games market.
