Richard Gasquet v Ivo Karlovic Head to Head
The pair have met five times before, and Gasquet leads their head-to-head series by five matches to one, although it has been five years since their last encounter.
Karlovic did beat the Frenchman at the US Open in 2011, but Gasquet won their four subsequent matches.

Gasquet has been a consistent performer in the top 50 for many years, and has won 15 career titles, the most recent of which came at s-Hertogenbosch in 2018. He has also been in 16 finals, with his last, again, coming two years ago.
He has proved that he is able to compete on all surfaces, as evidenced by the fact that he has been a quarter-finalist in Paris, and twice a semi-finalist at Wimbledon. He also reached the semi-final here in New York in 2013, before losing to Rafael Nadal.
Injury robbed him of a chance to compete in the Australian Open this year, but, when he did return to action. he reached the second round in both Montpellier and Dubai.
Last week, at the Cincinnati Open, he beat the qualifier Jeffrey John Wolf in the first round, but then was beaten in straight sets by Roberto Bautista-Agut.

Karlovic Going On and On on the Tour
Karlovic is remarkable, not only because he is the joint tallest-man ever to be ranked in professional tennis, but also for the fact that he is still competing at this level at the age of 41, when nearly all his contemporaries retired years ago.
This may be his last hurrah in terms of Grand Slams, but he would like to go out with a bang.
He has won eigt ATP titles, the first of which came in 2007, and the most recent of which was the Los Cabos Open in 2016. However, last January, he did reach the final in Maharashtra before losing to Kevin Anderson.
The big serve and volleyer best performance in a Grand Slam was a quarter-final at Wimbledon in 2009, whilst his best run in New York was four years ago when he reached the fourth-round.
Karlovic played sparingly in 2020 prior to the lockdown, beating Vasek Pospisil of Canada in Melbourne, before losing to Gael Monfils.
This is his first competitive ATP tournament since the resumption of the sport.
