Novak Djokovic v Jan-Lennard Struff Head to Head
This has been a one-sided rivalry so far with Djokovic having won all four of their previous matches and having dropped just one set across those four. They played each other as recently as last week where Djokovic hammered Struff 6-3, 6-1 in th quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Masters.

Djokovic Ragged But Unbeaten
It was a slow start for Novak Djokovic in the second round against Kyle Edmund. In the first set, which went into a tie-breaker, Djokovic lost a record he had – of having never lost a tie-breaker this year – but once that was out of the way, he coasted to a win that allowed him to keep his other record.
Of never having lost a match this year. He now has 25 wins in a row which date back to the ATP Cup and consists of the Australian Open, ATP Dubai and the Cincinnati Open in the process.
In a match which lasted three hours and 13 minutes, Djokovic lost his serve twice but both on both occasions he was already a couple of breaks up. In all he faced only five break-points and smashed 52 winners to his opponent’s mere 27 to take the match away from Edmund.
In fact in the first set, he was rarely challenged on his serve but couldn’t bring his game up to a level to break his opponent’s serve following which he lost the only set-point he faced in the tie-breaker. Once he brought his rhythm back, there was no looking back and Djokovic won 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 to carve out a place in the final.
He now plays the German world number 29 who has been bit of a late bloomer.

‘Cincinnati’ Quarterfinalist Struff Yet to Drop a Set
It might not mean too much when you are playing against Djokovic but you got to take every ounce of confidence and momentum into a match like that. And Jan-Lennard Struff, after the kind of drubbing he endured at the hands of the world number one last week, would do well to focus on his own first two results in the US Open.
Or for that matter even in that Cincinnati Masters where he lost to Djokovic.
Wins over Alex de Minaur, Denis Shapovalov and David Goffin aren’t to be scoffed at and that’s exactly what he managed last week en route his quarterfinal. And here, at the US Open, Struff has already had no problems dispatching Pedro Martinez and Michael Mmoh, both in straight sets.
In fact in his match against Mmoh, the world number 29 – which is his career-best ranking – faced just one break-point all match. Another positive he would love to take into the Djokovic match.
Can all of that, however, be enough to take Struff where he’s gone just once before in his decade-plus long career? A fourth round in a Grand Slam. Doubt it.
Djokovic v Struff Prediction & Tip
A Djokovic win is a whopping 1/33 and even in straight sets he starts off at 1/3. Looks the most likely outcome to us.
Tip: Djokovic to win in straight sets: 1/3 (bet365)
