Miomir Kecmanović v Yannick Hanfmann Head to Head

An unlikely pair facing off in the final of this ATP Kitzbuhel event, which had seen Dominic Thiem win the title last season and even more interestingly, Kecmanovic and Hanfmann will be meeting for the first time in their careers.

Kecmanović Continues to Get Tested…

…and continues to win.

Well, in this day and age, the word ‘tested’ takes on a whole new dimension but the reference is to just the tennis. And this tournament. Kecmanovic has won four matches to make it to the final and in three of them he has been stretched to three sets.

And it was no different in the semifinal against the Andrea-Marc Huesler, a Swiss player ranked 303rd before the start of this week. Having made the main draw as a qualifier, he had already beaten Fabio Fognini and Feliciano Lopez, which meant Kecmanovic wouldn’t have been that surprised to see him play like anything but one ranked outside the 300.

The Serb took the loss of the second set in his stride, got an early break in the third and closed out the match to march into the final.

Kecmanovic, who has made the final of one ATP tournament before – on grass and lost – is a former Orange Bowl winner which he won by defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas. Now is the chance for him to add an ATP title to his collection and make a move towards the top 30 players in the world.

Hanfmann Also in His Second Final

Much like Kecmanovic, Hanfmann will be playing his second ATP final, having last got there in 2017. It was a tournament which was also played on clay in Gstaad and he went down fighting to Fabio Fognini in that encounter.

In this tournament at Kitzbuhel, aided by the pull-out of some of the top players, Hanfmann first made it to the main draw by beating Ernests Gulbis and Thiago Monteiro before going on a four-match winning run in the main draw.

His biggest win, however, came against Laslo Djere in the semifinal as he overturned the loss of the first set and then won the final set in a tie-breaker. Hanfmann had the early break of serve in the final set before Djere levelled it at 3-3 and then had a chance to serve it out at 5-4 but finally came back to scoop it up in a tie-breaker.

These fighting qualities will come out to the fore come Sunday for the final.

Kecmanović v Hanfmann Prediction & Tip

Kecmanovic is a favourite but we wouldn’t discount Hanfmann for the way he has played all tournament. Expect him to come out all guns blazing, with a three-set final on the cards.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 11/8 (bet365)
