Marketa Vondrousova v Misaki Doi Head to Head

Vondrousova’s Not Had a Great Season So Far
A French Open finalist last year, Vondrousova suffered a late season injury in 2019 which put her out of action for a while. Now, returning back to tennis in 2020, Vondrousova had the worst possible start before the pandemic struck, losing five of the eight matches she played on hard court surfaces.
This included a first round loss at the Australian Open and another couple of them at the St.Petersburg Open and Qatar Open.
During the break, Vondrousova tried to shrug off her rustiness and get back into action but in the three clay court competitions she played in, the Czech lost four of her seven matches. And all of looked to have had an effect even when the season resumed as Vondrousova lost her opener at the Palermo Open to Kaja Juvan, and then another at the Cincinnati Open to Laura Siegemund before finally winning a match at the US Open.
After a 6-1, 6-4 rout of Greet Minnen, Vondrousova went down in the second round to Aliaksandra Sasnovich to continue with a run of underwhelming form.
She now returns back to clay in the hope she can give herself a proper build-up in the lead-up to the French Open.

Doi’s Season Even Worse
It’s probably going to be a battle between which of these players plays lesser bad than the other on the day. Because Doi goes into the competition as a qualifier who has barely won anything in main draws of events in 2020.
In fact, other than the final she made at the $125k tournament at Indian Wells, Doi has won just one match in the main draw of WTA tournaments. Since the resumption of tennis in August, Doi’s lost the first round in Lexington, failed to make the qualifiers at the Cincinnati Open and was a first round loser to Naomi Osaka at the US Open (admittedly taking a set off the champion).
Last week at Istanbul on clay, Doi finally won her first match only to lose in straight sets to Maria Patricia Tig 6-2, 6-0.
Even in the qualifiers here, Doi was stretched by Italy’s Martina Trevisan to three sets, before finally coming through. Tough times ahead for the Japanese player.
Vondrousova v Doi Prediction & Tip
For all her struggles so far, this should be as easy as they come for Vondrousova and we are predicting a straight-set win for her.
Tip: Vonrousova to win in straight sets: 8/15 (bet365)
