Alex De Minaur v Dominik Koepfer Head to Head
This will be a first-ever meeting between these two players.

De Minaur Reached Maiden Grand Slam Quarterfinal
Alex De Minaur is racing to the top of men’s game. And how symbolic it is for the Australian young gun who is one the quickest players on tour, coincidentally moving so rapidly up the rankings following a run of impressive results.
The latest in his portfolio is a Grand Slam quarterfinal showing at the US Open – the first time he had ever advanced to the last eight at a major. In all fairness, this is a player who defies the logic that size in tennis does matter.
De Minaur served up a reminder in an interview shortly before he was scheduled to play Dominic Thiem at the US Open, and explained that despite having a small physique, he learnt to grow into his own body over the years.
When he beat Vasek Pospisil in the fourth round in New York last week, the Canadian gave glowing praise and placed De Minaur’s name right behind Monfils in terms of pace.
It is not the quickness though which does the damage, but his unrelenting defense and court coverage can suffocate opponents to the point where a player would likely have to hit an extra ball to land a sure winner.
While the 21-year-old would dearly have loved another way of going at it on a tennis court, with the booming first serve and first-strike tennis, he still wouldn’t change the way he plays the game.

Koepfer in Fine Spirits Before Maiden Main Draw Appearance
Dominik Koepfer’s path towards a first main draw appearance at the Italian Open was not as straightforward as he would have anticipated, with the German needing three sets in taking out Flavio Cobolli, Gilles Simon and Mikhail Kukushkin in the qualifying stages.
Koepfer who hails from Furtwangen but lives in Tampa, Florida in the US, enjoyed a career-best season in 2019. He won his first title at the Ilkley Challenger on grass, and as is tradition for the champion, he earned a wildcard into the Wimbledon main draw where he also won his first Grand Slam match.
The 26-year-old would then embark on a Cinderella run at the 2019 US Open when he reached the fourth round as a qualifier, toppling the likes of Reilly Opelka and Nikoloz Basilashvili along the way before losing to Daniil Medvedev in four sets.
The German currently sits just inside the top-100 at no.97, although he has been ranked as high as world no.83.
De Minaur v Koepfer Prediction & Tip
De Minaur has had plenty of time to find his groove and acclimatize with conditions in Rome. Koepfer will certainly make this interesting given that he is unfazed at the prospect of facing the very top players in the world.
Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/4 (bet365)
