Stan Wawrinka v Lorenzo Musetti Head to Head
This will be the first time Wawrinka faces Musetti in a competitive match.

Wawrinka in Fine Fettle Post Pandemic
While Wawrinka did not travel to USA to play in the two competitions in the bio-secure bubbles, he was active at the Challenger level. The Swiss number two featured in a couple of clay court tournaments, both of which were held in Prague, and went on a seven-match winning streak before withdrawing from the quarterfinal of the latter tournament.
What’s interesting to note is while Wawrinka won the first tournament he played, the Prague 2 Challenger, he was stretched to three sets in four of the five matches he was a part of. It was only in the final that he finally managed a straight-set victory but once he had found his rhythm, the next two wins were both without dropping a set.
Wawrinka’s had a very solid season otherwise too. Opting not to participate in any of the exhibition tournaments, the world number 17 was a semifinalist at Doha, a quarterfinalist at the Australian Open and made the quarterfinal in Acapulco before the pandemic hit the world.
Now he resumes his campaign at the highest level with the preparation for French Open in mind.

Teenager Musetti Continues to Shine
He is just 18 but Musetti has already shown enough sparkle and promise for the future. Currently ranked 249th in the world, he has already improved by over 300 places in a matter of a year thanks to his solid showing at the Futures level.
In fact, Musetti, who has won a juniors Australian Open singles title, has been ranked the number one juniors player on the ITF charts in the past too.
Last year, Musetti won a couple of futures tournaments on clay to push on his career, but his biggest achievement came earlier this year when he came through the qualifiers to make it to the main draw at the ATP Dubai.
Soon after Musetti has now won three qualifying rounds to enter the main draw of his second career tournament, here at the Rome Masters and while Wawrinka is one of the toughest first round opponent he could have drawn, the Italian would be chuffed to see the kind of progress he has already made on the senior tour.
Wawrinka v Musetti Prediction and Tip
It’s interesting to note Wawrinka, while being favourite, is a mere 4/11 to win this encounter, something we think are good odds for his win in this match. Safe to go with that.
Tip: Wawrinka to win: 4/11 (bet365)
