Dayana Yastremska v Amanda Anisimova Head to Head
This will be the first time that Yastremska and Anisimova will be facing off in a competitive encounter.

Yastremska Battles Past Giorgi
Camila Giorgi had defeated Yastremska only recently and the question was if lightning could strike twice in such a short span. Turns out, Yastremska found a way to grit it out against Giorgi, overcoming the loss of the second set and needing two tie-breakers to edge past the Italian.
It had been very similar the last time they had met too, in Palermo, with the exception of the final result.
Yastremska will now have a similar battle in the second round too, as she takes on a player who has been doing the rounds as a talented youngster to watch out but without a lot of results to show for it so far.
What the Ukrainian will need to do is to unleash the kind of form that had seen her win three titles over the last two years. One of those had come on clay, at Strasbourg, where she had beaten the likes of Aryna Sabalenka and Fiona Ferro before registering a fighting three-set victory over Caroline Garcia in the final.
This year, Yastremska came close to adding to her tally when she reached the final at Adelaide, losing to Ash Barty but since then her form hasn’t been up to the levels she would want. Sure, she has won a couple of rounds in most of those tournaments but bowed out just when she has begun to threaten.
Anisimova will be a tough opponent.

Anisimova Facing Stiff Draw
In the first round Anismova played the 28th-ranked Donna Vekic. Now, she is up against the 29th-ranked Yastremska.
And if she wins this, the American could well play the world number two. If that’s not a draw to reckon not sure what is.
Anisimova has passed the first hurdle though. In the opening round against Vekic, the world number 27 needed two tie-breakers to get past the Croat and while it turned out to be a challenging encounter, the American would be glad to have been worked over like that.
Because things are going to get tougher and it’s not about the Italian Open. With the French Open up next and Anismova having made the semifinal of that competition last year, she will would be glad to get some challenging encounters under her belt.
And obviously, she would be gladder if she wins those too.
Yastremska v Anisimova Prediction & Tip
Interesting to note that despite Anisimova’s strong showing on clay she starts a second-favourite against a player ranked a couple of places behind her. She is 1/1 to win this and we are backing her to edge this encounter.
Tip: Anisimova to win: 1/1 (bet365)
