Simona Halep v Iga Swiatek Head to Head
This will be a rematch of the 2019 French Open fourth round match between these two players where Halep had crushed Swiatek 6-1, 6-0. Incidentally, this is the same scoreline by which Halep overcame Amanda Anisimova in her third round match.

Halep Avenges Loss in Fine Style
As a defending champion at last year’s French Open, the pressure was squarely on Halep when she took on the budding teenager Anisimova in their quarterfinal in 2019. And that looked to have told on Halep who went down fighting to the American.
There were no such nerves this time around. Halep had come into the encounter on the back of a 16-match winning streak and she wasted no time in getting past Anisimova and thereby extracting revenge from her opponent for that defeat last year.
And it’s not so much the loss itself because Halep was the most obvious favourite, but the manner of defeat. She broke her opponent a whopping six times to win 6-0, 6-1, with Anisimova lasting a mere 54 minutes on court.
Also, this wasn’t an opponent who had earlier struggled for form. Anisimova herself had been clinical in her two previous rounds, dropping a total of a mere four games against Tamara Korpasch and Bernarda Pera. This time around though, the hunter became the hunted and in doing so, Halep sent out her biggest warning yet – she is here to clinch her third Grand Slam title and not too many can stand in her way.
What plan will Swiatek come up with though?

Swiatek Ends Bouchard’s Campaign
Eugenie Bouchard had been doing well lately and a third round appearance at the French Open was her best at a Grand Slam since she managed the same stage at the 2017 Australian Open. The Canadian had some going her way having reached the final of the Istanbul Cup recently but against the 19-year-old Swiatek it proved to be of no use.
Swiatek was off the blocks in a hurry by breaking Bouchard in the very first game, and while the Canadian levelled things off at 2-2, the world number 54 responded back with two more breaks of serve – one in the fifth game and then again as Bouchard served to stay in the set.
The second set started off in similar fashion with Swiatek getting a break in Bouchard’s very first service game only to be broken back immediately. Swiatek, however, allowed Bouchard to win just one more game after that, clinching five of the next six to register an easy victory in a match that went on for 74 minutes.
The Pole has now played in two editions of the French Open and gotten to the fourth round at both, to go with another such appearance at the Australian Open earlier this year.
Question is, can this inexperienced go that one step further to register her best showing ever at a Grand Slam? Against the unbelievably excellent form Halep is in, it would need a mini-miracle.
Halep v Swiatek Prediction and Tip
Halep’s the favourite and even a straight-set win wouldn’t give much of a yield. Given her form, wouldn’t put it beyond her to repeat what happened at the previous French Open or in the previous round against Anisimova.
Tip: Under 19.5 games in the match: 5/6 (bet365)
