After reaching the Cincinnati Masters final, Raonic was tipped to reach similar heights in Rome and New York but suffered second-round upsets in both tournaments. Now, almost one month after losing in Rome, he’s back on one of his preferred surfaces and will surely be driven by his previous losses to rectify his mistakes.
A former champion of the tournament himself, he’ll be keen on adding to his 8 career titles, and the fact that it’s been 4 years since he won a title should be some added motivation for him to replicate the 2015 run that saw him win the St. Petersburg trophy.
