Miomir Kecmanovic v Cameron Norrie Head to Head

This will be the first time that the 41st-ranked Kecmanovic and Norrie, whose career-best ranking was 41st, will be facing off in a competitive encounter.

Kecmanovic Stalls Losing Streak

Well, to be fair, it can hardly be called a losing streak when you lose two in a row but for a player who had just won an ATP 250 title before that, it sure would have felt like that. Kecmanovic was the Kitzbuhel Open winner and would have gone into both, the Rome Masters and the French Open knowing he had some solid form behind his back.

And yet, he lost in the first round at both. While the French Open defeat to Diego Schwartzman can be put down to luck of the draw, Kecmanovic would have been particularly disappointed with his showing in Rome where he didn’t have the toughest draw even leading up to the semifinal.

And he lost to Yoshihito Nishioka in the first round.

The good news, however is Kecmanovic was back to his best, winning 6-3, 7-6 against Mikhail Kukushkin, a tricky opponent in his own right. This follows the Serb having reached the semifinal at the New York Open in the first phase of the season, a tournament also played indoors.

Enough to suggest Kecmanovic will have enough confidence coming into this encounter.

Norrie Comes Away Winner against Fritz

Much like Kecmanovic, Norrie had also come into this tournament having lost back to back matches, but unlike his opponent those defeats hadn’t surprised too many. After all, Norrie isn’t much of a clay-courter and while three defeats in his last four matches would hurt, they had all come on red dirt, making it slightly more bearable for the Brit.

Which is why Norrie started out at 2/1 in his opening round match against Taylor Fritz, who loves playing on hard court but still came through in three fighting sets.

What one mustn’t forget here is Norrie’s had a lot of indoor court practice during the pandemic lockdown. He participated in two tournaments on indoor hard court surfaces, both courtesy of the Battle of the Brits, and won seven of the nine matches he played there.

While some of those came against fellow Brits ranked way lower than him, it would have given him the necessary feel of the conditions that some others didn’t have.

Kecmanovic v Norrie Prediction and Tip

Norrie is 6/4 to win this but we believe he might still have a chance, at least push the match into a third.

Tip: Norrie to win a set: 4/7 (bet365)
