Daniel Evans v Ugo Humbert Head to Head
This will be the second meeting between the two players.
Daniel Evans won their only ever meeting in the semifinal of the 2019 Quimper Challenger, doing so in straight sets. Additionally, that match was on an indoor hard court.

Evans Form Turning at The Right Moment
Daniel Evans came from a set down to beat Karen Khachanov and earn this semifinal spot. In doing so, he showed that his recent dip in form seems to have faded.
In the first set he struggled a bit, failing to capitalize on three break points in the fifth game, and Khachanov capitalized by crucially breaking him in the next game, which went on to guaranteeing the Russian the set.
In the second set he was broken early but recovered to take the set to a tiebreaker. There was a nervy moment when Khachanov was on the cusp of winning the match with a tiebreaker match point; but Evans held his nerve, came back, and won the tiebreaker.
He broke the Russian in the first game of the third set, which proved decisive in helping him win the set and the match simultaneously.
Though he’d entered the match as the favorite due to Khachanov’s shaky form, he still had a lot to do to prove his favorites tag. Now he’s in the semifinal for the second time this year, and this time he will be hoping that his form, which seems to have improved at the fitting moment, will help him reach his third ATP career final.
First, though, he has to find a way of steering past a rising 22-year-old French star; one who’s guaranteed to give him a lot of trouble.

Humbert Chasing Second Title of The Year
After winning the ATP Auckland Open in January and reaching the semis of the Delray Beach Open in February, Ugo Humbert struggled for form after tennis returned post the hiatus. In this tournament, however, he’s conjured that early year form in his run to the semis.
He began his campaign in Antwerp with a straightforward win over local wildcard Kimmer Coppejans of Belgium, the world 172. That win earned him a second-round match against the number two seed, Pablo Carreno-Busta of Spain, and he produced a spectacular display to come from behind to beat the world number 15, a win that probably signaled his true intent for the tournament’s title.
And in his quarterfinal against Lloyd Harris, he showed that he can go all the way with a relatively easy win in straight sets over the South African.
So far he’s only dropped one set in the entire tournament, and such performances have put him as the favorite alongside Alex De Minaur to win the tournament.
If Humbert can match the strong serves, great motion, and tenacity that he’s already shown to be capable of doing, then there’s no doubting that the future star can weave his way into another final and possibly another title.
Evans v Humbert Prediction and Tip
Evans’ tight encounter with Khachanov might have worn him out, and the young Frenchman can exploit the Brits tiredness. But still, Humbert has shown that he can match any opponent, and therefore I expect him to be able to navigate past Evans with some relative ease.
Tip: Humbert to win: 8/15 (bet365)
